Legislative Update
On Thursday, June 4th, the House Judiciary committee voted to place the controversial permitless carry bill and its seven figure fiscal note “behind the budget”, meaning the legislation will only be considered after other budget considerations are addressed. This year, the state of Tennessee faces a $1 billion budget shortfall, so it is extremely unlikely that the House will take any further action on this bill. Following the reconvening of legislative committees in late May, The Senate never placed the bill on its calendar.
The Campus Carry bill has advanced in the House and will be before the House Education Committee on Wednesday, June 10th. The Senate deferred the legislation until December 1st, 2020.
